Stroud Center Welcomes New Board Members

The board of directors of Stroud™ Water Research Center is pleased to welcome Robert DiFilippo, Holly Michael, Josh Auld, and Michael Bucklin. DiFilippo began his three-year term of service at the September board meeting; Michael, Auld, and Bucklin will begin their service at the December board meeting.

Robert DiFilippo

Robert (Bob) M. DiFilippo, P.G. is the founder and CEO of Aquaterra Technologies, Inc. in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Bob’s professional interests include water supply exploration, watershed management, site characterization, regulatory consulting, and fate and transport analysis. Bob holds a B.S. in geology from the University of Rhode Island and a M.A. in geoscience from West Chester University, and is pursuing his Ph.D. at Loughborough University in England.

Bob is currently serving as the co-project lead for the Engineers Without Borders Philadelphia Professional Chapter’s Rwanda Project, as the technical lead for their Philippines Project, and as a project advisor to the Drexel University Student Chapter of Engineers Without Borders working in El Salvador. Bob serves as the mentor coordinator for the EWB-USA Northeast Region. Bob has completed several water development projects in Bondeau and Miragoane, Haiti, and he serves on the board of directors for the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation.

Holly Michael

Holly Michael is an associate professor in the Departments of Geological Sciences and Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Unidel Fraser Russell Chair for the Environment at the University of Delaware. She holds a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in hydrology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Her research interests include coastal hydrogeology, groundwater-surface water interactions, water resource management, and geostatistics. Some of her current projects include investigating groundwater flow into estuaries, modeling groundwater salinization due to climate change, evaluating sustainability of arsenic-safe groundwater in Bangladesh, and the application of experimental economics to groundwater resources.

Josh Auld

Josh Auld is an associate professor and the assistant chair in the Department of Biology at West Chester University. He holds a B.S. in biology from Duquesne University and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Pittsburgh.

In his research, he is interested in exploring how life-history and mating-system evolution interact. Particularly, he is interested in studying how genetic and environmental factors interact to determine the expression of life-history traits related to reproductive fitness. Most of his work focuses on freshwater snails.

Michael Bucklin

Michael Charles Bucklin holds a B.S. in marine transportation operations from Maine Maritime Academy. While there, he served as second mate of steam and motor vessels of any Gross tons upon oceans.

Currently, he is a real estate manager at Landhope Farms in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. He previously served a 3-year term on the board of directors for the Island Housing Trust in Mount Desert Island, Maine.
