Administer the Master of Environmental Studies and the Master of
Science in Applied Geoscience Programs. Duties include recruiting
students, directing admissions, advising students, and, teaching
courses.

Support the research efforts of faculty involved in IES.
Organize the IES’ weekly lecture series.
Senior Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs 2002-2003
Supervise undergraduate and general post-baccalaureate admissions and
advising. Chair Admissions Committee. Supervise three
full-time advisors. Oversee CGS scholarship programs including
Bread Upon the Waters, Phi Theta Kappa, and Dean’s scholarships for
part-time, non-traditional students. Oversee student services
including new-student orientation, student workshops, and graduation.
Supervise recruitment efforts such as community college visits and open
houses.

Assistant Dean and Academic Advisor - Graduate 1994-2002
Provide administrative oversight for the Master of Environmental
Studies Program. Develop curriculum and recruit faculty. Oversee
MES program budget. Represent the MES program at national conferences.
Serve as the Penn representative on the National Association of
Environmental Professionals' committee to evaluate undergraduate
environmental studies programs nationally. Serve on data analysis
committee to review CGS student statistics and analyze trends that will
affect program development and marketing. Co-wrote a grant to expand the
MES program to include online courses. Presented results of this
initiative at a national conference. Conducted data analysis for an
internal review of the Master of Liberal Arts program. Negotiated
and implemented an agreement with Region III of the US Environmental
Protection Agency to offer MES courses on site and to provide non-credit
seminars and training to EPA staff. Advise graduate students in the
Master of Environmental Studies program and the Master of Liberal Arts
program on course selection, application procedures, and other academic
issues. Review application files and serve on the Advisors’
Committee for both graduate and undergraduate programs. Supervise
students on the completion of their Master’s Projects.

Assist in development and direct operation of non-credit IT training
program in conjunction with ExecuTrain of Philadelphia. Supervise the
program-related activities of three staff members, an administrative
coordinator, program advisor and marketing coordinator. Provide daily
oversight for marketing and advising to meet enrollment goals and budget
constraints. Review and revise marketing plans and set budget
projections. Oversee the daily operations including scheduling,
recruitment, marketing, and curriculum. Oversee program budget.
Co-wrote a grant to expand the both curriculum and facilities for the
IT@Penn program. Served on the committee that interviewed and
selected service provider for program instruction.

Acted as administrator for Master of Liberal Arts program during the
absence of the Director. Developed and scheduled courses, staffed
Faculty Advisory Oversight Committee, served on Advisors’ Committee,
advise students on course selections and admissions procedures.

procedures, and other academic issues. Reviewed admissions files

Environmental Case Studies and Our Planet Earth. Design course contents,
prepare and deliver all course lectures and course materials. Co-teach
